"Lache Pas La Patate" is a phrase translated loosely into English as "Don't let go of the Potato" . . . but . . . it's used and well understood in South Louisiana to literally mean "Never give up!" It's a phase many of us who went to Cottonport High School in good old Louisiana heard from our infamous, and extremely effective, advanced math teacher. He was one of my top three favorite teachers of all time, and one to which I owe a huge debt of gratitude. He's gone now, but I'll have to tell you all about him some day. Those of you who, like me, endured his classes, enjoyed his personality, and benefited from his knowledge and perseverance in getting us to master higher level mathematics know exactly who I am speaking of ;-)
I'll try to gather some tales here (some true, some maybe) from Cajun country and indeed from around the world where someone was reminded, or needed to be reminded, to lache pas la patate. Maybe you have a success story in which you were told to never give up that you can share with us. Either contact me through here using the "Contact" page or post your tale to my FaceBook page, The Easy Cajun.
